The seats and some parts of the bus were burned, but the engine remained intact.” Locals pointed out that if the fire had spread to the nearby Upashahar slum, many houses could have been destroyed instantly. Their prompt action helped prevent a major disaster. Jessore Kotwali Police Inspector (Investigation) **Kazi Babul Islam** said, “Preliminary investigation suggests that the fire was started by breaking the window next to the driver’s seat.” He added, “At the time of the incident, the night guard had gone to a nearby shop for tea, and the supervisor was on his way home.” He further stated that the case is under investigation, and the police have already started efforts to identify the perpetrators.
